Our Collection of Your Data and How we Use It.

In line with the new Data Protection laws coming into effect I thought that it was worthwhile just popping a note on here about how we handle your data and information.

We have to take things like your address and telephone number so that we can contact you about your appointments and to let you know when we have glasses or contact lenses for you. Your Date of Birth is neccesary as it relates to changes that can happen in your eyes and it has a bearing on whether you get NHS help or not.

Sometimes it will be necessary to communicate with GP’s or the NHS but they will have the same details that we have. If we need to contact another optical practice to get prior prescription or spectacle details we will only do so with your permission and, likewise, if someone contacts us we will only give them details if you give us permission.

We will have consent forms for data handling in the Practice for you to sign, and we will keep those in your records.
